Support that’s there
when you need it most.
Every graduate has access to ongoing technical support — colour matching, repair advice, job quoting and more — for as long as you need it. No time limit. No extra charge.
Practical support for real-world jobs.
The jobs that come up in the first months of trading aren’t always textbook. Unusual hides, difficult colours, damage you haven’t seen before — this is exactly where the support comes in. You’re not on your own.
Colour Matching Advice
Send a photo via WhatsApp and we’ll advise on how to match the colour — including unusual or faded hides that don’t fit standard formulas.
Leather Identification
Not sure what type of leather you’re dealing with? We can help you identify it correctly so you choose the right products and approach from the start.
Repair Technique Guidance
Encountered a damage type you haven’t tackled before? We’ll talk you through the right approach so you go into the job with confidence.
Job Quoting Help
Send us photos of a job you’ve been asked to quote and we’ll help you assess what’s involved and price it correctly — so you’re never leaving money on the table or over-promising.
Product Recommendations
Guidance on which products to use for specific situations — so you’re not guessing, and you’re not wasting money on things that won’t work.
Physical Colour Matching
For particularly difficult colours, send us a leather sample and we’ll match it for you. No more hours lost trying to get an exact match on an unusual hide.
Simple, fast support via WhatsApp.
No ticket systems, no waiting on hold, no generic replies. You message us on WhatsApp — ideally with a photo of the job — and we come back to you with practical advice.
Take a photo of the job
A clear photo of the leather, the damage, or the area you’re trying to match gives us everything we need to give you accurate advice.
Message us with the photo and a brief description of what you’re dealing with or what you need help with. Quote queries welcome too.
Get practical advice back
We’ll respond with specific, actionable guidance — not generic tips, but advice tailored to exactly what you’re looking at.
Go into the job with confidence
Whether it’s a tricky repair, an unusual colour, or a job you weren’t sure about taking, you’ll have what you need before you start.
WhatsApp Support
When a photo isn’t enough.
If a colour can’t be matched from a photograph due to poor lighting or an unusual tone, then a sample enables an exact match. That’s exactly what the sample service is for.
How the sample service works
Cut a small piece of leather from an inconspicuous area — the underside of a cushion, inside a zip area, or from a spare piece if you have one.
Post it to us and we’ll match the colour accurately using our experience and equipment, and come back to you with the correct formulation or product recommendation.
This removes the guesswork entirely on difficult jobs — and protects your reputation on the ones where getting it wrong isn’t an option.
Why this matters
Colour matching is one of the most common points of failure for leather repair technicians — not because they lack skill, but because even experienced technicians encounter colours that are genuinely difficult to replicate from a visual alone.
A wrong colour match on a visible repair panel can undermine an otherwise excellent job. The sample service exists to make sure that doesn’t happen to you.
It’s the kind of backup that most technicians working alone simply don’t have access to. As a Leather Academy graduate, you do.
Not a helpdesk. A practitioner.
The support you receive doesn’t come from a customer service team or an administrator. It comes from Melissa — who still takes leather repair jobs, still encounters the same challenges you’ll face, and knows exactly what it takes to run this kind of business.
Melissa has been repairing and restoring leather furniture professionally for several years. She founded The Leather Academy to give other technicians the training and ongoing support she wished she’d had when starting out.
When you send a photo of a difficult job or an unusual colour, you’re getting advice from someone who has dealt with the same situation on a real customer’s sofa — not someone reading from a manual.
Most people who train elsewhere get a course and a certificate. Our graduates get a direct line to someone actively working in the industry — for as long as they need it.
All Leather Academy graduates. All courses. No exceptions.
Whether you completed a 1-day foundation course or a full 3-day programme, technical support is included as part of your training with us. There’s no tier system, no premium support add-on, and no expiry date on when you can reach out.
The difficult jobs tend to come up in the first six months — but we’ve had graduates reach out a year or more after training with a question on a job they’ve never encountered before. That’s exactly what the support is there for.
