Description
The Leather Academy Aniline Topcoat is a specialised finishing system developed specifically for use over our Aniline Impregnator and aniline-treated furniture leather. Standard water-based finishes often struggle to bond effectively to surfaces that have been treated with oil-based products — Aniline Topcoat is engineered to adhere securely to these surfaces, providing durable protection against rub-off, colour migration, handling wear and minor moisture exposure.
Formulated with flexible polymers that stabilise and seal the treated leather surface, Aniline Topcoat enhances colour depth, protects the leather fibres and preserves the natural softness and breathability that defines quality aniline leather. Available in two finishes — Satin and Gloss — it allows you to select the exact level of sheen required, from a soft, refined glow to a brighter, more polished shine.
Satin or Gloss — Which Should I Choose?
Satin is the most popular choice for aniline furniture leather, delivering a subtle, low-sheen finish that complements the natural, understated character of the leather without drawing attention to the topcoat itself.
Gloss delivers a richer, more polished shine — ideal where a more luxurious, dressed appearance is the desired result.
Both finishes are fully compatible with the Aniline Impregnator and can be applied using the same technique.
Recommended For
- Aniline and semi-aniline furniture leather treated with Aniline Impregnator
- Any leather surface where a standard water-based topcoat has failed to bond
- Applications requiring durable protection against rub-off and colour migration
- Any project where preserving the natural feel and breathability of the leather is essential
